Sky Eats Airplane Announce Their Two New Members!
That’s right. Ex-vocalist of Sky Eats Airplane Jerry Roush could not be replaced by anyone, so the band had to bring in TWO new members to keep the band sounding amazing without Roush in the picture. Lucky for them, I approve!; I actually really like the new sound of Sky Eats Airplane. It is definitely not the same without Roush, but I love the new step forward this band has taken with their new members.
Back in late July of 2009, Sky Eats Airplane experienced, in their words, “a singer situation.” They posted up a blog on their MySpace that although Roush was leaving the band, he left of good terms due to “creative differences.”
It has been well over a few months of high anticipation of their loyal fans to find out who was going to come into the picture to keep Sky Eats Airplane alive, and the band have finally announced their two new band members.
Alright, so let us get to who these two new epic members of Sky Eats Airplane are.
First off, we have Bryan Zimmerman, ex-lead vocalist and guitarist of The Burning Season as the new lead vocalist of Sky Eats Airplane. Zimmerman is also in a project with Jonas Ladekjaer from Emarosa called Abi Viscera, so feel free to check into that as well if you are looking to hear more of what this talented guy has to offer the new Sky Eats Airplane. He also likes Panda Bears; this is something else I highly approve of.
It was also announced that their bassist Johno Erickson also left due to “creative differences” apart from the band, also having left on good terms with the band. His departure from Sky Eats Airplane meant the introduction of second member, Elliot Coleman.
Elliot Coleman joined the band, offering to become not only the new bassist, but to introduce more vocals to the band. Unfortunately I can not provide any music related background on Coleman before he joined Sky Eats Airplane due to not finding any.
The new demo of Zimmerman and Coleman showing off their skills is up on the official Sky Eats Airplane MySpace, so go and listen to get the official glimpse of what is to become of Sky Eats Airplane!
Sky Eats Airplane stated the following in a recent MySpace blog:
“We felt fairly limited vocally on the last record and we are very excited to utilize two singers for the next album, as this will add a new dynamic to our sound. Although Bryan and Elliot both have different voices, we feel that each will add their own style to the new songs — along with older songs live — that wasn’t possible before.
We are sad to say that Johno is no longer in the band due to creative differences. We felt that it was in everyone’s best interest. We still value his friendship highly and wish him the best of luck in the future.
As for new material, expect a brand spankin’ new EP to be released in the Spring with all new material! We are still working on a full length, but wanted to be able to get some new songs out to you sooner. Our good buddy, Taylor Larson at Oceanic Recordings, is recording our EP at the beginning of the year.
The clip up on our myspace is a sample of ideas we are currently working on and would like to share with you guys. Keep in mind that these are just very rough demos but we couldn’t wait any longer to show you what we’ve been working on.”
