[REVIEW] The Narrative – Self-Titled

The Narrative’s new self-titled record is fantastic! The album features a great mix of piano/pop rock and catchy hooks. This cd will no doubt become the perfect “Sunday drive” music to throw in your car!

Alright…enough mindless praise.  The opening song “Fade,” truly starts off the debut cd with bang. A catchy drumbeat, interwoven with Suzie Zeldin’s beautiful vocals could really give your ears a few cavities (considering that such a medical issue were ever actually possible) and by the middle of the song, your ears are losing teeth (bad analogies are bad).

Zeldin and Jesse Gabriel have found the perfect balance between each other. One song, Suzie will take lead vocals and the next, Jesse. It all flows very well and brings a surreal vibe to each song.

“Empty Space” starts with an ambient/synthesized noise before quickly jumping into a piano/drum duet. Next Zeldin’s angelic voice comes in and sweeps you away into The Narrative’s world of elegance and grace.

The middle of the album really shows off The Narrative’s amazing ability to compose melodic, harmonious songs. “Don’t Want To Fall” and “End All” both feature a piano and phenomenal instrumentals. Each of these elements truly captures the listener and reveals exactly what the band is trying to convey with each song.

Closing the album, “Turncoat” is a very good example of rock. The drums hit very hard behind the piano, and with vocals from both Zeldin and Gabriel, the song is a whirlwind of harmony. With this track, you will do a double take at iTunes and will be in disbelief that it is over.

Overall, I was very surprised by this album. Having never heard of them before, I was not expecting much in the way of a “clincher” however, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of these guys! It is very evident in their work, the amount of passion and heart that is uniquely crafted in each song. Everything in The Narrative’s Self-Titled cd is flawless. I highly suggest you pick up your copy today at http://www.thenarrativemusic.com!  Help support unsigned bands, especially those that have this level of talent.  Look for these guys to be picked up by a label soon, if not something is sincerely wrong with the record industry.
