[REVIEW] Fall To The Queen – Hope
Simply put, Fall To The Queen’s new EP titled Hope is awesome.
FTTQ formed in February of 2009 when bands Above The Ruins and Shots Were Fired came together. Since then, the band has quickly started gaining a lot of attention in the tri-state area. With catchy melodic choruses, heavy hitting breakdowns, and an energetic live performance, FTTQ has hit the ground running trying to make a name for themselves. It has paid off. The band are releasing Hope on July 23rd and is expecting an iTunes release shortly after and will play along side music heavyweights August Burns Red, MyChildren MyBride, The Almost, and more at the IMatter Festival on July 31st.
Hope opens with the track “You’re A Candidate” and hits the ground running. Frontman Eric Sieglen’s powerful vocals are undeniable and the mix of a catchy chorus and impressive guitar work make this the perfect intro song to a very strong EP.
The EP continues on a relentless march with stand out tracks like “My Constant” and “You Are Your Own Engine” that really reflect the amount of hard work and determination this band possesses. Both songs are very well constructed and heartfelt lyrics will leave you rewinding to hear a certain line again. “Bring down this burden upon me / bring a breath of fresh air to this world before we destroy ourselves / There is a task to show the world of our violent ways / This is our task to show the world of our violent ways”
The last song on the record is the re-recorded version of “Lions And Lambs.” This track brings the band’s debut EP to a memorable close and leaves you wanting more.
In conclusion, Hope is a groundbreaking release for the band. Every song is complimented with amazing lyrics and phenomenal musicianship. FTTQ is still in their early years but, their powerful attitude and unrelenting work ethic will change that within the upcoming months. If you like crushing breakdowns, heavy guitar riffs, and stand out vocals, then this cd is definitely for you. Hope will lay down a clear path for the band and will undoubtedly help accelerate an already promising career.
