Automatic Loveletter Release Acoustic Album

Automatic Loveletter will release an acoustic album entitled The Kids Will Take Their Monsters On on June 28 via Paper + Plastick Records.  The official release can be seen below.

In these days of autotune and over-processing, it’s refreshing to hear an artist strip everything bare and release an acoustic album, exposing emotions, nuances, and talent. AUTOMATIC LOVELETTER’s energetic and feisty frontwoman, Juliet Simms, is doing just that with her new album THE KIDS WILL TAKE THEIR MONSTERS ON which will be released on Paper + Plastick Records on June 28, 2011. Produced and engineered by Valencia’s Shane Henderson and co-produced by Damone’s Michael Woods, this is the sound of an artist taking away the gloss and showing what critics and fans have known for years – that Juliet has pipes and songwriting skills. “I started off as an acoustic singer songwriter,” she explains. “It’s my roots. I play acoustic shows a lot, and it captures another side of my songwriting and performing. Kids also have been asking for years. So, I said to myself ‘Self, let’s do this *iiish*!’”

A veteran of the Vans Warped Tour with countless Summers spent on the traveling festival (including last year with a full band), Juliet will be playing acoustic for the whole length of this year’s installment on the Keep A Breast Girlz Garage as well as giving guitar lessons to fans and festival attendees, something of which she is really looking forward. “I’m THIS excited,” she shrieks.

“When we toured with Valencia last year, I instantly bonded with Shane,” she begins about how the Valencia vocalist became involved in producing this record. “He would have have me come onstage during their set and sing with him, and I think it was only two weeks into the tour that he suggested us writing or working together in some capacity. A couple of days before last Christmas, he came down to Florida to play a show, and it was that night that I asked him if he wanted to produce the acoustic record. And he obviously said yes.” Damone guitarist Michael Woods met Juliet on last year’s Warped Tour and a similar meeting of minds was formed. “Woods and I met last Summer and instantly we said, ‘Uh, we’re both mutants… let’s hang out!’ One thing led to another and we started sending songs back and forth and doing co-writes through the mail, and after that, I knew I wanted him to be involved as well.”

Kicking off with the lilting “Never Take It Off,” The Kids Will Take Their Monsters On is the perfect follow-up to her debut album Truth or Dare that was released last year. While Truth or Dare showed how rockin’ Juliet and her band could be, The Kids… displays her real strength as a songwriter and fiery frontwoman. One minute vulnerable and soul-bearing (“Black ink Revenge”), the next empowered and strong (“Carry the Fire”), Juliet isn’t scared to expose different facets about herself, which is represented in the striking album title. Taken from a line from the final song on the album “The Curtain Close,” she explains the reason for calling the album that: “The song is about fighting your inner demons, monsters, outer evils and the people telling you ‘no’ or inhibiting you in any way. ‘The kids will take their monsters on’ is about society today… the youth revolting and essentially saying, ‘Damn the man!’” The propulsively and urgent “Save Me” soars and has become an anthem of sorts. “It’s the most personal song on the record for me,” she says. “I went through a very dark period in my life where I actually thought I lost my mind. This song was a cry for help… Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, my mind is back,” she adds with her signature smirk.
